Due to the tremendous support and turnout (thank you!) at the last Board of Commissioners meeting, we were able to get a favorable vote to amend the zoning manual to include motorcycle and ATV parks as a conditional use. As you read in the last post (Dec 18), the Superior Court has decided we must now apply for another Special Land Use Permit (SLUP) under the new amendment. This is going to require starting at the beginning, with approval and recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Board, then final approval from the Board of Commissioners. So we have to go through two meetings and get two favorable votes, not one as previously posted. We need your support at these two meetings, and I am asking you to please plan to attend at least one, if not both meetings.
Everyone that attended the last meeting got a free pass for a day of riding at Highland Park, and we will do the same at the two upcoming meetings. We need your support and we really appreciate your time and effort to attend.
Thursday, Jan 19, 6pm - Polk County Planning and Zoning Board meets to vote on the new SLUP required by the GA Superior Court. The Planning and Zoning Board must vote favorably to recommend the new SLUP for approval by the Board of Commissioners. We need support at this meeting! (Directions & Map)
Date & Time Change: Wednesday, Feb 1, 5pm - Polk County Board of Commissioners meets to vote on the new SLUP. This is the final vote, and we need your support at this meeting! A favorable vote by the Board of Commissioners is the final step needed to grant the new SLUP required by the Superior Court. (Directions & Map)
Saturday, February 4, 2006 - with favorable votes from the Commissioners in Polk County, the Superior Court will lift the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). We anticipate this will happen 1-2 days after the Feb 7 vote, so we should be back in business Saturday, Feb 4. Plan to come out to ride that weekend! We will have some special things planned. (Be sure to check this website around Feb 2 for confirmation we will be open that weekend!)
