HIGHLAND PARK NEEDS YOUR HELP!
There are a few people in the local Polk County area that do not want a fun and safe family riding area for motorcycles and ATV’s. They have cited everything from fumes to dust to drug abuse that will be a direct result of Highland Park being open in Polk County. As a result of their zoning lawsuit filed in Superior Court, Highland Park is currently closed. There is a FINAL VOTE Tuesday Dec 6th on the zoning amendment needed for Highland Park to re-open, and we need a favorable vote from the Polk County Board of Commissioners. The opposition will try to convince the Commissioners to vote the other way, and if they succeed, we will likely all loose a great riding area. Even worse, it would set a precedent in the Georgia Superior Courts that might be used to close other riding areas or prevent new ones from opening. Don't let that happen!

Please show your support for Highland Park by attending the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, Dec 6. If you cannot attend the meeting, please take a moment and send an email, fax, or letter (contact info shown at bottom of this page). Even if you are going to attend the Dec 6th meeting, you can still send a letter/email/fax now. Every little bit will help!

WHAT TO DO:

1. Attend the Board of Commissioners Meeting 7pm, Dec 6th
Show up in person to the Board of Commissioners meeting at the Polk County Administrative Building located at 144 West Ave, in downtown Cedartown, GA. Please see driving directions AND MAP at bottom of this page. The meeting will be at 7pm sharp in the second floor meeting room, and I strongly suggest you get there about 6:45pm to get a seat. There is a pretty large parking area in front of the building, but there is also additional parking all around the area if the lot is full.

Everyone that wants to speak in favor of the Park must sign in on the clipboard provided on the table in the meeting room, so be there early to do that before they call the meeting to order at 7pm. You do not have to speak, and just your support by coming to the meeting will be a big help, but speaking will carry much more weight. Just a few words or a couple sentences spoken in support of the Park will REALLY HELP! If you would like to speak at the meeting, or if you need info to type up and email/letter/fax, please see the bottom of this page. If you have any questions, call us at 770-425-5252. THANKS!

2. Send an email, FAX, or Letter
Send at least one, and make sure your riding buddies send one too. Even if you will attend the meeting, you can still send a letter of support now. All support correspondence should be addressed to attention of:

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE COMMISSIONERS MEETING
GA Hwy 27 runs North-South through Cedartown, and GA Hwy 278 runs East-West through town. Coming into downtown Cedartown on Hwy 27, or on Hwy 278, it's easy to find the Administration Building. The location is on Hwy 278 (called West Ave), 1 block west of Hwy 27 (called Main Street), right in the middle of town. The Post Office is right across West Ave (Hwy 278) from the Polk County Administration Building. For some reason most mapping programs have difficulty finding West Ave, so if you just pull up a map of Cedartown, you will see the intersection of Hwy 27 and Hwy 278, and the Administration building is only 1/2 block from there.
